Papier

Korean students - I have found - possess an unbounded enthusiasm for the employment of paper to creative ends. I often find those who have no interest in the beautiful language, applying such skills during English class as they battle to stave off the incomprehensible and manic ramblings of their teacher, the silence of whom can easily be bought with the presentation of a well folded sheet of A4 (which now adorn his desk).

On the subject of desks, mine, as you can see, is unique in that it acts as a kind of magnet for general office based flotsam and - in particular - post it notes, upon which my memory overwhelmingly relies. Sometimes though, my rather utilitarian and functional collection receives a little warmth and decoration in the form of the small notes which my students occasionally write me.
